Licensing

Race Manager uses a unique model for licensing.

Promoting a race is not a simple or inexpensive endeavor. Getting sponsors continues to be a challenge, so keeping expenses low is essential. If something is an expense, no matter how much it may help, Promoters tend to avoid it. This goes for software that may expedite and ease registration and results, making everyone happier. It's another expense, and it is not absolutely required.

So instead of licensing Race Manager to Promoters, Race Manager is licensed to the Local Associations (LAs) of USA Cycling. LAs pay the monthly license fee, and any Promoter promoting a race through the LA can use Race Manager for free.

This model gives LAs an additional reason for Promoters to permit their events through their LAs, as they can use simple, powerful software to run their races without an additional expense. It also gives LAs a standard results file (beyond what is in the USAC results file) to ease the processing for LA Points/BAR series. The LA results files (Race and Omnium) can also be customized per LA.

Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association (TBRA) Promoters have been using Race Manager for 13 years, Missouri Bicycle Racing Association (MOBRA) Promoters have been using it for 9 years, and Texas Bicycle Racing Association (TXBRA) Promoters used it for 7 years. It has also been used at Gateway Cup in St. Louis before MOBRA licensed it, besides at a number of colleges and other events through the years.

Details

There is a one-time initial fee for Race Manager, and a monthly fee that includes the license for the software, any and all upgrades, and support for any Promoter promoting a race through their LA. These fees vary by the size and activity level of the LA, thereby reflecting a fair and affordable price for all of the LAs, small and large.

Please contact us for more details on the fees, and we would be happy to schedule an online presentation for you and/or your Local Association (LA) board members to see Race Manager in action.

Comparison

For comparison, promoting four events in a month anywhere in a given LA with a particular competitor's software would be $600 (4 x $150). Compare that to using Race Manager at unlimited events per month anywhere in the LA for less than the competitor's price for just four events. And it is not even fair to compare the software - theirs is a spreadsheet.

Can We Be Hired?

Have we been hired to run Race Manager at events not in an LA that is licensing Race Manager? Yes, but this is not preferred. Instead, let us help you convince your LA to license Race Manager, and then it is free for you to use at your events. Hiring us is not free (or cheap), but we are open to that possibility.
